I’m very excited to announce the fifth Critical Digital on Thursday 21st April at 1700 in M104 with a personal hero of mine, Ramon Amaro. He has a very dry bio which is below but he’s an incredibly sharp and fascinating data ethicist who can make complex systems like algorithms, databases and AI seem simple, explaining their origins and functions in a really great way. This is the most unmissable Critical Digital so far.
Ramon Amaro is Associate Lecturer in Critical Theory and Media Philosophy at the Centre for Cultural Studies, Digital Culture Unit, Goldsmiths University of London. His joint academic background in philosophy, sociology and engineering comes to fruition in his research looking at the philosophical dimensions of computer modelling of social processes, with particular reference to data fairness and algorithmic equality in machine learning and artificial intelligence systems.
Previous critical digitals are available here and as usual there’ll be beers after the talk,
Thanks and looking forward to seeing you there!
